Why is Disney Plus removing original TV Shows?
Renowned journalist Ranini reports that the Disney Plus platform, like other major players in the digital market, is removing some of its own series from its catalog to avoid paying licensing fees. Additionally, it is possible that these original series will be sold to other platforms, generating additional revenue. Netflix, the digital platform, is in a better position as its subscriber count continues to grow, and despite some fluctuations, they have decided not to remove old content.
Unfortunately, this is not the case for Disney Plus subscribers who have recently signed up for a year-long subscription. Not only is the platform removing its own original series, but it may also face a lack of new production due to a screenwriters’ strike in the United States, which has paralyzed the production of Hollywood projects and may potentially extend for six months.
