Kerem Bürsin will star in the movie “Son of the Rich”
Turkey is preparing to film a remake of Klim Shipenko’s Russian comedy “Slave.” The new film, titled “Son of the Rich,” will remain faithful to the original idea and will tell the story of the re-education of a spoiled heir sent back to the past.
Russian media report that the main role in the movie will be played by Kerem Bürsin. He will portray the character of a haughty heir from a wealthy family named Mete, who finds himself in an Ottoman town in the 16th century and becomes an ordinary “slave”. In the original film, this role was played by Milosh Bikovich. Melisa Döngel will also star in the film.
Filming for “Son of the Rich” is scheduled for June in locations familiar to viewers from the series “Magnificent Century” and “Resurrection: Ertuğrul”. The film will be produced by the Turkish film company Kunay Film and the Russian studio Yellow, Black and White. The director of the film is Onur Ünlü, known for his work on the series “Leyla and Mecnun” and “Five Brothers”.
According to the producer of Kunay Film, Karina Mia Saltykova, “Son of the Rich” will differ from the original with a different historical period, maritime scenes, and pirates. According to the producer of Yellow, Black and White company, Zhanna Shashayeva, the rights to adapt “Slave” were sold to more than 10 countries worldwide, including India, Mexico, France, and Italy. In 2023, the first remake was released – “Slave. Once in Mongolia”.
