The Film “Love and Food”: Turkish Kebab Challenges an Elite Restaurant
The film “Love and Food” tells the story of four siblings from Adana who continue their family business—a kebab restaurant.
The main characters are Civan (Uğur Güneş), Derviş (Osman Sonant), Feride (Ceren Taşçı), and their middle brother Rüşen (Bülent Şakrak). Due to Rüşen’s frauds, they are forced to leave their home. The family, for whom honesty and justice are the core values, decides to start a new life in Samsun, leaving their brother behind. However, they are unaware that this journey will bring many surprises.
First, Rüşen reappears in their lives, and then a car accident drastically changes their destiny. Near the town of Tokat, they collide with the car of a young woman named Mercan (Hande Doğandemir), forcing them to stay in the town. Mercan is the daughter of the owner of a Michelin-starred restaurant, renowned for her arrogance (Hatice Aslan).
Tension quickly arises between the family from Adana and the restaurant owner, leading to a rivalry. As a result, Derviş decides to open a traditional kebab restaurant right across from the elite establishment. Now, Turkish cuisine with its gourmet dishes will compete with the best kebabs, forever changing the lives of both sides.
