A Film Starring Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu Wins Award at the Locarno Festival
Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu, who will star this fall in the series “Magnificent Madmen” on the NOW channel, has been recognized for his work in the film “When Dawn Breaks.” The film received an international award.
The film “When Dawn Breaks,” in which Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu played the leading role, won the Critics’ Prize at the Locarno Film Festival.
Director Gürcan Keltek presented the film at the 77th Locarno Film Festival, where it had its world premiere. “When Dawn Breaks” received high praise from critics and was honored with the Boccolino d’Oro award.
The jury explained their decision with the following words: “Gürcan Keltek creates an unforgettable work that stands against the globalizing forces suppressing freedom of thought and expression. The film reminds us that a young artist can have a future, despite attempts to forget this. The film, addressing themes of beauty and betrayal of religions, opens up space for reflection on a possible future for those who still believe in humanity.”
