The shooting of the 3rd season of The Protector began: who is in the cast?
The Protector
On Wednesday, May 15, the filming of the third season of the first Netflix US-Turkish series Hakan: Muhafiz / The Protector began. As you know, the first two seasons were a great success for Turkish producers, so the Netflix management decided to renew the series for two new seasons.
In addition to the names already familiar to viewers: Çağatay Ulusoy, Engin Öztürk, Hazar Ergüçlü, Okan Yalabik, and Burçin Terzioğlu, new actors joined the cast of the show. In the new season the audience will see Funda Eryiğit, Taner Ölmez, Bige Önal, İlayda Alişan, Emre Mutlu, Halit Özgür Sarı and Hasan Üner.
Note that this is the second time when Taner Ölmez and Çağatay Ulusoy will work together. Their previous series The Tide / Medcezir was a big hit in Turkey and is successfully going around the world. For Hazar Ergüçlü and Taner Ölmez this will be the third series where they work together: they were the couple on the TV series The Tide / Medcezir and Mail of Dudulu.
Note also that Halit Özgür Sarı is the third client of the Engin Aykanat’s agency after Çağatay Ulusoy and Engin Öztürk, who plays in the first American-Turkish TV series of the Netflix internet platform. Earlier, the young actor starred on the TV series Resurrection Ertugrul as the nephew of the main character.
In the new season, Hakan’s brother Levent turns Istanbul into hell. The young Protector will have to fight an unknown virus that the Immortals have unleashed. Faysal and Ruya are close to finishing their insidious plans. In this fight, Hakan is assisted by Nissan (Funda Eryiğit) and Burak (Taner Ölmez). Hakan is almost victorious, but a new enemy appeared on his way – Vezir, who is ready to unleash his 600-year-old rage on Istanbul. Now the Protector will have to find and neutralize him. To do this, he will have to turn to the experience of ancestors and take a journey between the past and the future.
Thus, the creators of the series decided to begin the story with historical scenes that the audience liked so much in the first season. It became clear why Çağatay Ulusoy has changed significantly in appearance: after all, he will again have to play the first Protector of Istanbul. Currently, the historical part is being filmed, therefore there are no actors working in the modern part on the set.
The main question remains who will become the new leading lady of the series. So far, only hints are given that Hakan will have a new love, but his partner has not yet been announced. Most likely, this will happen when the story of the series is transferred from the past to the present. Although who knows, maybe the partner is Hazar Ergüçlü, and we are just misled.
