Who will be Çağatay Ulusoy’s co-star in the series Museum of Innocence?

The news that famous producer Eric Barmak is preparing a project on the novel of Nobel laureate Orhan Pamuk “The Museum of Innocence” / Masumiyet Müzesi for Amazon Prime stirred the Turkish press. We remind you that Çağatay Ulusoy with whom a gentleman’s agreement was signed will be a star of the show.

Of course, two issues were of great concern to journalists: when filming began, given that Çağatay was about to play a leading role in the big TRT1 project Barbaros and who would play the main female role. The list of actresses who are said to be on the verge of signing an agreement for the series has multiplied every day, including Pinar Deniz, Leyla Tanlar, Cansu Dere and others.

Due to her colleagues’ numerous fantasies, the well-known journalist Ranini, who provided information about the future show, rushed to clarify some details. As it turns out, the series does not depend on the launch of Amazon Prime in Turkey. Officially, the platform will be launched in Turkey in 2021. The purchase of domestic series which will be available to the Turkish viewers has already started. But the Museum of Innocence is a series for the American market.

The producer of the project is Eric Barmak, he has never been a Turkish producer and is unlikely to want to become one. Recall that he was vice president of Netflix for international projects, who controlled the creation of the series The Protector. Also in his portfolio are such series as Sacred Games, Marseille, Suburra, Dark, Rain and others. Last March, he left Netflix and created his own company Wild Sheep Content, which creates content for digital platforms, working with filmmakers in Spain, India, Scandinavia, France, Austria and others.

Mr. Barmak is not a Turkish producer, and he does not work in the Turkish serial market. He bought the rights to the film adaptation of the world bestseller, so the series The Museum of Innocence will be produced in English and will likely feature Hollywood actors. Thus, according to Ranini, the main female role will most likely go to the Hollywood actress. Which makes sense, because the novel is full of eroticism, and Turkish actresses are unlikely to reveal the character properly.

So, according to Ranini, the Museum of Innocence is not a Turkish series, despite the fact that the Turkish actor will be the star of the show. Work on the project will begin next year. Then it will become clear who will be the co-star of Çağatay Ulusoy.
