The prosecutor’s office demands 18 years in prison for husband of Pelin Karahan
The prosecutor’s office brought charges against Pelin Karahan’s husband Bedri Guntay, accusing him of forging declarations on the import of a large consignment of perfume into the country, which resulted in Yenigün Cleaning and Service receiving 3.7 million Turkish lira in VAT refunds. The prosecutor’s office demanded 18 years in prison for the accused. However, Mr. Guntay said that he did not know at all what kind of export company it was and that they had not carried out any export transactions at all. His company employs 4 thousand people and their turnover is 20 million Turkish lira per month, so such a small export consignment is not logical for them.
