Great news for Can Yaman fans! Your favorite actor is returning to Turkish TV series. However, we will not see the star of the Day Dreamer on television. He, like most Turkish actors, now prefers to work on digital platforms.
Last week, the digital platform Disney Plus was officially licensed by the state regulator RTUK to broadcast in Turkey. However, preparations for new Turkish projects are already in full swing. Shooting of the series Escape starring Engin Akyürek and İrem Helvacıoğlu continues. Apparently, this project is timed to coincide with the opening of the platform in Turkey, which will take place this summer. A large project dedicated to the founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk starring Aras Bulut İynemli is also in pre-production. The platform is negotiating with Halit Ergenç, Hande Erçel, Kerem Bursin, Afra Saraçoğlu and other stars of the Turkish screen to participate in new projects.
And now, new information from the famous journalist Birsen Altuntas. Can Yaman, who is continuing his career in Italy, will star in a series for the Disney Plus digital platform. The series is being prepared by Ay Yapim. According to so far unconfirmed information, we are talking about an adaptation of the popular historical novel by Orhan Yeniaras The Turk / El Turco, which tells about a real character – a Turkish officer who rebelled and liberated an Italian village from feudal lords.
It is not entirely clear what happened to the series Sandokan, which was supposed to be filmed in June, because the actor should prepare himself for the project during at least six months. Perhaps filming is being postponed again? We will remind that earlier Birsen Altuntas also announced that Can Yaman would star in the series directed by Ferzan Ozpetek, but later this turned out to be just her fantasies.
The only thing we know for sure: unlike Netflix, Disney has not yet signed a single exclusive contract with Turkish actors and the platform has no official “faces” for now. A press conference may be held shortly to announce the immediate plans of the platform. We are also waiting for the Disney Plus platform to announce the stars who will represent it in Turkey.
