Despite very disappointing ratings, “Barbarossa: The Sword of the Mediterranean / Barbaroslar Akdeniz’in Kılıcı” has been renewed for a second season. Will there be the stars who worked in the first season, or will there be a whole new cast?

The series “Barbarossa: The Sword of the Mediterranean / Barbaroslar Akdeniz’in Kılıcı” was one of the most anticipated and most expensive TV shows of the Turkish air of the 2021/22 season, however, alas, it did not live up to expectations. Despite the replacement of the director, screenwriters, part of the cast, the ratings of the project continued to decline throughout the year and many asked: will the TRT1 channel renew the expensive but unpopular series for the next season?

According to the well-known journalist Birsen Altuntaş, the management of the TV channel decided to renew the series. The events of the second season will take place during the reign of Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent and will focus on the story of Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa. The author of the script for the project will be Zülküf Yücel. The director of the series will be Berat Özdoğan. According to the journalist, it is not yet clear whether Ulaş Tuna Astepe will remain in the show or another actor will play the main role. Ulaş will decide whether to stay or leave the series after reading the script for the second season. Now new shooting pavilions are being built to continue the work.

Ulaş Tuna, who was spotted the day before in the Galata district with his girlfriend, said that his project had made the season finale, and now it’s time for rest. He will go on vacation to Ayvalik and then return to the screens in the second season, thus confirming that he remains in the cast. All other stars of the series left the project at the end of the first season.
