Canan Ergüder to star in the Netflix series

Prominent journalist Birsen Altuntaş reports that Canan Ergüder, who portrayed Leyla in the series “Family,” has inked a deal for a new digital series. The show, titled “Istanbul Encyclopedia / İstanbul Ansiklopedisi,” is being prepared by producer Timur Savcı’s company, Tims&B, for the digital platform Netflix.

A total of 8 episodes are planned for release. The director is Selman Nacar, who recently premiered his film “Line of Doubt” at the 80th Venice Film Festival, receiving an award for the best film in the main competition at the Zurich Film Festival. He is also the scriptwriter of the show. In “Istanbul Encyclopedia / İstanbul Ansiklopedisi,” Canan Ergüder will portray the role of academician Nesrin. Filming is set to start in January.
