Yalı Çapkını vs. Sadakatsiz: war for ratings?

Yalı Çapkını vs. Sadakatsiz

Will the series Unfaithful / Sadakatsiz keep its audience? Will The Kingfisher / Yalı Çapkını be a super hit? And why are these two shows already called direct competitors, promising a big war in the ratings? What is the reason for this confrontation?

The TV series Unfaithful / Sadakatsiz was one of the main hits of the Turkish broadcast last season. Despite the fact that the plot of the original English TV series has already come to an end, producer Fatih Aksoy decided to continue working on its remake in the second season.

However, according to the well-known journalist Birsen Altuntas, the producer’s decision did not arouse enthusiasm among the script group. Lead scriptwriter of the project Kemal Hamamcıoğlu held talks with the owner of OGM Pictures Onur Guvenatam and left the series. Soon it was announced that he was writing the script for the new TV series Kingfisher / Yalı Çapkını starring Çağatay Ulusoy. Since it was previously reported that Çağatay is ready to return to the screens for only one season, then most likely Mr. Hamamcıoğlu was attracted by a short and intense story for 20-25 episodes, because he had previously worked only on theatrical plays.

The beginning of the work of the new script team for the series Unfaithful in the fall did not go very smoothly. Changes were made, additional scenes and new characters were added. As a result, the release of the 2nd season of the show was delayed for a week. We can only hope that the new screenwriters will be at their best and will interest the audience.

Now several channels are fiercely fighting for the right to broadcast the series Kingfisher, but the one most interested is TV8’s owner Acun Ilicali, who needs the project with the biggest Turkish star for prestige (the channel’s main revenue comes from the reality shows, not a series). If Mr. Ilicali still gets the Kingfisher (which is very likely), then the series will air on Wednesday, becoming a direct competitor to the series Unfaithful, that also airs on Wednesdays. It looks like a real war of ratings and screenwriters is expected on Turkish air.
