The new historical series of the state TV channel TRT1 Awakening: The Great Seljuks / Uyanış Büyük Selçuklu made a strong impression on the Turkish viewer. However, the shooting of the project is in jeopardy. What happened?

On Monday, September 28, a Turkish viewer saw the first episode of the new historic project of Akli Film Awakening: The Great Seljuks. The audience, inspired by the magnificent performance of the fights and the excellent acting, praised the project. As early as the first episode, it became the leader of the ratings.

As it became known, the cost of production of the 1st episode of the show was 3 million Turkish lira. Right now only the State channel is able to invest this amount in the production of the television product. The foreign digital platforms can argue with it, provided they want to create an equally expensive Turkish TV show.

However, not everything is as smooth as we would like. The Film and Television Workers’ Union reported that the production of the series was carried out in unsatisfactory conditions on the set. 260 people of the film crew were forced to work for three months 24 hours a day without a break, the food was of poor quality, there were not even basic hygiene facilities, toilets, and a shower. Moreover, they were not paid their salaries for 5 weeks. The film crew threatened to go on strike if their demands were not met.

Production company Akli Film issued a press release stating that the information about the suspension of work on the series Awakening: The Great Seljuks is not true. Work continues, wages are paid on time, and measures are being taken against coronavirus infection.

Note that not Akli Film is responsible for the shooting plateau, but the TRT1 TV channel. 4 more projects of the channel will be filmed on it, including the expected series Barbaros. It was to be hoped that those were only temporary difficulties in starting work at the new location and that the situation would be resolved in the best possible way for all parties.
